Summer Reading is Back at Bentonville Public Library City of Bentonville Guest Readers to be Feature

Bentonville, AR...Bentonville Public Library (BPL) invites readers of all ages to participate in “All Together Now” – this year’s summer reading program!

Registration opened May 30 allowing readers of all ages to begin logging hours to win prizes. Patrons can use the free READsquared app or pick up a paper log at BPL to track reading hours.

To celebrate Bentonville’s Sesquicentennial, special guest readers from the City of Bentonville are joining Library’s preschool storytimes on Tuesdays at 10:30am. Come listen to stories, sing songs, and learn about your community. Storytimes are best for ages 3-6 and their caregiver.

BPL’s storytime schedule features the following City departments:

  • June 6 - Mayor Stephanie Orman and Library Director Hadi Dudley
  • June 13 - City of Bentonville Police and Fire Departments
  • June 20 - City of Bentonville Transportation and Electric Departments
  • June 27 - City of Bentonville Planning, Community Development, and Animal Services Departments
  • July 11 - City of Bentonville Parks and Recreation and Information Technology Departments
  • July 18 - City of Bentonville Legal, Purchasing, and Finance Departments
  • July 25 - City of Bentonville Public Works and Water Departments
More stories, crafts, workshops, book clubs, movies and special performances are planned too. Due to limited capacity in the Walmart Community Room, special performances require a free ticket to attend.

  • June 9 at 10:30am: Institute of Jugglology
  • June 16 at 10:30am and 2pm: Magic with Tommy Terrific
  • June 23 at 10:30am and 2pm: RaVe Cultural Foundation
  • July 7 at 10:30am: Trike Theatre Presents: Birdie and the Beanstalk
  • July 14 at 10:30am and 2pm: Opera in the Ozarks Presents: Cinderella
  • July 21 at 10:30am: Music with Laura Doherty
Free tickets for special performances can be picked up at the Library’s Children’s Desk beginning at 9am on the day of the event. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and attendees must be present to pick up tickets.

The Summer Feeding Program returns to Bentonville Public Library, in partnership with Aramark and Bentonville Schools. Free meals for kids will be served Monday through Friday at 11:30am – 12:30pm beginning June 5 through July 29.

Additionally, on Saturday, July 1 at 9am – Noon, the Library will host its 3rd Annual OZ Kids™ Bike & Book Fest with the Ozark Outdoor Foundation. Books, stories, music, crafts, bikes and many fun activities are planned. Registration is requested to attend this free community festival.

BPL is closed Tuesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. The last day to log reading hours is July 31. Bentonville Public Library offers something for everyone and all interests - learn more at bentonvillelibrary.org or by calling 479-271-3192.

BPL’s Summer Reading Program is sponsored by the Friends of the Bentonville Library. Additional partners include the Arkansas Arts Council, Aramark, Bentonville Schools, Bentonville Police Department, ReaderLink, Ozark Outdoor Foundation, Arvest, KPMG, Walmart, UAMS, People for Bikes and other generous community supporters.
